This is the earliest version of the M1918a2 buttplate.  It is a M1918 buttplate with the shoulder support welded on.  Correct buttplate for early WWII BARs with wooden stocks.  Also fits Plastic stocks.  This example is rusty, pitted, and opens half way, could use a good oiling / sand blasting / refinishing
